Sclerotherapy has been used in Europe for over 50 years for treatment of spider veins, reticular veins, and varicose veins, as well as hemorrhoids. Although various agents are used as the sclerosants, we have had consistent and reproducible with hypertonic saline.
One major advantage of this agent is that it is totally non-allergenic. Between 2 and 6 treatments are necessary to treat both legs and thighs. There is no downtime, although elastic bandages have to be worn for 3 to 5 days following the procedure. There is very little pain involved.

Increased incidence of Basal Cell Carcinomas in sun tanners
Previous studies have demonstrated an increased incidence of Squamous Cell Carcinomas and Malignant Melanomas in tanning bed users. Now, a recent article shows an increase of early onset of Basal Cell Carcinomas among users of tanning beds.
