Ultraviolet Light Treatment
Ultraviolet light (100 nanometers to 380 nanometers) is present as part of the radiation emitted by the sun. It is invisible The visible light consists of the entire spectrum of colors from 380 nanometers (Violet color) to 780 nanometers (red) and beyond (infrared).
Prolonged exposure to the Ultraviolet Light from the sun is not desirable.
The Ultraviolet spectrum is divided into UVA (315-380 nanometers) UVB (280-315 nanometers) and UVC (100 to 280 nanometers) The UVC rays do not reach the earth, as they are filtered by the atmosphere including the ozone layer.
For many years, dermatologists have used the Ultraviolet rays to treat various skin conditions.
Eventually, the Ultraviolet Light Treatment (311 nanometers) has been found to be the most effective in treating widespread Psoriasis.
At Lakeviewderm we have a Ultraviolet Light Treatment Machine (Booth) in each of our 3 offices. We use it for widespread Psoriasis either by itself or in conjunction with systemic treatments such as the Biologics (Enbrel, Humira, Stelara) or Methotrexate or Acitretin.

Increased incidence of Basal Cell Carcinomas in sun tanners
Previous studies have demonstrated an increased incidence of Squamous Cell Carcinomas and Malignant Melanomas in tanning bed users. Now, a recent article shows an increase of early onset of Basal Cell Carcinomas among users of tanning beds.
