Traditional Laser Resurfacing
Traditional (Ablative) Laser Resurfacing is performed with a CO2 Laser equiped with an ultra pulse device that emits a succession of extremely short and focused pulses whose traject is determined by a computer pattern generator. In this way, very thin layers of skin can be removed one at a time.
With multiple passes, relatively deep wrinkles and scars can be eliminated. This requires skill on the part of the surgeon. Dr. Eugene Mandrea has done ablative CO2 Laser Resurfacing with computer pattern generator on many patients for treatment of acne scars and wrinkles. We use the Luxar CO2 Laser.
We perform this procedure under local, tumescent anesthesia without sedation. Following the treatment, the patient must adhere to a strict schedule of wound care and sun avoidance for 7 to 9 days.
Punch excision and Punch elevation of deep scars can be used to greatly enhance the results of facial Laser resurfacing. We have used this technique with gratifying results.
Recently we have used Botox in combination with Laser resurfacing in certain areas. This way, the healing occurs on more relaxed skin and the results are better.
Results can be further refined andimproved by using subcision with and without sculptra injection, for the deepest scars.
