Laser Acne Scar Treatment Chicago
Laser Removal of Severe Acne Scars
Doctors Eugene and Steven Mandrea, Board Certified Dermatologists, offer a comprehensive approach to the treatment of acne scars.For moderate boxcar and dish type scars, Traditional CO2 Laser Resurfacing (Luxar - 1 or more treatment sessions) or Fractional CO2 Resurfacing (Pixel) (several treatment sessions) can be very effective.
For more severe acne scars, a number of other treatments should precede the CO2 Laser treatments, in order to get the best results:
We treat the ice pick acne scars by the "CROSS" (Chemical Reduction of Scars) technique (100% Trichloracetic acid on a toothpick strictly inside the scar).
We treat deep boxcar acne scars by punch elevation.
We treat deep dish type acne scars involving the subcutaneous fat by subcision, sometimes followed by Sculptra.
We also treat the persistent redness around the acne scars with I.P.L. (intense pulsed light) due to the often continuous enlargement of the scars while the redness persists.

Following these treatments, Ablative or Fractional Resurfacing can be very rewarding even in patients who have moderate to severe acne scars.
