When combined with radiofrequency (i.e. the Aurora(R) by Syneron), there is an added skin tightening effect due to heating of dermal collagen underneath the skin surface.

The IPL source emits a broad, continuous spectrum of light in the range of 515-1200 nm. The treatment is safe and very well tolerated. The number of treatments required and cost varies with the particular indication and surface area being treated. Aesthera® revolutionary Photopneumatic therapy (and Isolaz, the second generation photopneumatic device from Aesthera) consists of utilizing an IPL source connected to a device that lifts the skin by vacuum suction and brings it very close to the source of light. As a result, much less power is necessary due to the proximity of the target (e.g. hair root) to the light source. In addition, the vacuum suction eliminates unwanted light-absorbing agents that may compete with the intended target.
