Razor Bumps (Pseudofolliculitis Barbae) is a condition whereby the hair shaft, having grown a few milimeters on the skin surface,curls and reenters the skin. This creates a pimple or bump that looks like the inflammation or infection of a hair root (Folliculitis). Inasmuch as the inflammation is not around the hair follicle but resembles it, the condition is called pseudofollioculitis.
Razor Bumps of the bearded area is quite common in African American men, but rare in White men. Razor Bumps can also occur in the pubic area if the hair is shaved.
The simplerst treatment consists of avoiding shaving. Otherwise, Laser epilation is quite effective.
We use the Neodymium YAG Laser which is very effective in all skin types.
