Love Handles
Love Handles is a popular term meant to describe an excess of fat in a person's midriff. Presumably, it is meant to describe the area where a lover holds his/her partner when embracing.
Excess fat in the midriff has become more frequent recently, due to sedentary life habits and high calorie consumption. Certain chemicals secreted by the fat cells (Adipokines) contribute to the enlargement of love handles and to the development of insulin resistance and to some inflammatory processes in different areas of the body.
Very often, diet and exercise can reduce, to some degree, this bulge. This is always desirable, inasmuch as being overweight can predispose a person to multiple serious difficulties, including cardiovascular and inflammatory problems as well as a predisposition to diabetes.
Naturally, maintaining a desirable weight, is helpful in the long term persistence of the results. However, when diet and exercise fail to reduce the love handles, even in the context of normal weight, a few procedures can achieve good results:
Liposuction
Laser assisted Liposuction
Laser heating alone (Lipotherme) in milder cases
All the above procedures are available at Lakeviewderm. For real liposuction before and after pictures, please see our photo gallery.

Increased incidence of Basal Cell Carcinomas in sun tanners
Previous studies have demonstrated an increased incidence of Squamous Cell Carcinomas and Malignant Melanomas in tanning bed users. Now, a recent article shows an increase of early onset of Basal Cell Carcinomas among users of tanning beds.
A new, totally non toxic pediculicide (Lice killer) by the name of ULESFIA is now available in pharmacies.
Teenagers who go to tanning spas accompanied by their mother, have a greater chance to start tanning early and to become heavy tanners.
