What is Cellulite?
Cellulite is a french term describing the enlargement of the subcutaneous fat cells resulting in an uneven, lumpy-bumpy appearance of the subcutaneous fatty layer. It has no relation to Cellulitis, a severe, dangerous bacterial infection of the subcutaneous fat.

- Genetic factors are very important.
- Obesity can play a role in some cases, although many non-obese women can have Cellulite.
- Age often plays a major role inasmuch as the skin becomes thinner with age, and thus reveals more readily the underlying imperfections.
- The role of smoking has not yet been entirely elucidated.
Cellulite Treatments - Liposuction and Lipotherme
Tumescent Liposuction for fat removal is one of the best liposuction methods and the safest. Almost any area of the body may be treated, the most common being abdomen, female hips and thighs, neck, and male waist (love handles). Tumescent liposuction utilizes large volumes of lightly salted water solution, containing a precise amounts of a dilute local anesthetic (lidocaine), and adrenaline, which is dispersed into the fatty tissue. The injected area then becomes locally numbed. This way, liposuction patients usually need no general anesthesia, in contrast with traditional liposuction. Lipotherme is an innovative Laser Lipolysis procedure that heats and melts the fat under the skin and can be used before tumescent Liposuction to soften and thus facilitate the removal of excess fat. The fat that is left behind is metabolized by the body in 1 to 2 months. At the same time, the skin is warmed from underneath. Due to collagen contraction, this results in less flabbiness and tighter skin than may result following Liposuction alone.Cellulite Treatments - Cellulite by Thermage

No surgery.
No injections.
No downtime.
Thermage tightens and thickens the skin fairly uniformly, including in the areas where the fat is herniating. Thus, in addition to reducing the diameter and circumference of the thighs and buttocks, it can reduce the lumpiness of cellulite. One treatment usually suffices.
