Basal Cell Carcinoma
Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common type of cancer in humans, and comprise the vast majority of skin cancers. The face is the most common location, and fair-skinned individuals are more commonly affected. Although there are some more aggressive subtypes, BCCs generally are slow growing lesions that rarely spread to other organs. Nevertheless, these tumors require treatment because, over time, they can grow large and invade underlying tissues and bony structures.
The gold standard of therapy remains surgical excision of tumors with margins of normal skin, while Mohs micrographic surgery is indicated for certain lesions. We offer treatment alternatives for superficial BCCs, including topical, chemical, high frequency current, liquid nitrogen, and light-based therapies (photodynamic therapy).
Possible treatments:
surgical excision
topical therapy
high frequency current
liquid nitrogen
