What is a Physician Assistant?
A Physician Assistant is a medically licensed mid-level health care provider who has the ability and knowledge to assess, diagnose, and treat a multitude of medical conditions. In addition to prescribing medications, Physician Assistants are commonly seen performing many procedures such as excisions of moles and skin cancers, as well as, lasers and cosmetic treatments. Physician Assistants recertify their knowledge of medicine every six years, which is beyond the certification requirements of most practicing physicians.
