Photorejuvenation Therapy Chicago

Photorejuvenation

Conditions treated: aging skin; wrinkles; sagging skin; mottled skin, rosacea; poikiloderma (red neck)

Length of treatment: 3 - 6, 30 - 50 minute sessions

Price: $250 - $600

Covered by insurance: No

Pain factor: Mild to moderate (requires topical anesthesia)

Photorejuvenation for aging skin consists of rebuilding collagen fibers by stimulating the fibroblasts in the skin using a light source. This can be done with intense pulsed light with or without pre-operative application of a photosensitizer (i.e. Levulan®). The face, neck, and upper chest can be treated in one session.

We prefer the Aurora® because in addition to heating the blood vessels with the light source, the associated radiofrequency device enhances the effect. Improvement is observed within a few weeks. Multiple treatments are necessary.
