We use Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) sources for many indications including photorejuvenation, rosacea, dilated blood vessels, enlarged pores, lentigos, melasma, hair removal, and photodynamic therapy.
When combined with radiofrequency (i.e. the Aurora(R) by Syneron), there is an added skin tightening effect due to heating of dermal collagen underneath the skin surface.
The IPL source emits a broad, continuous spectrum of light in the range of 515-1200 nm. The treatment is safe and very well tolerated. The number of treatments required and cost varies with the particular indication and surface area being treated. Aesthera® revolutionary Photopneumatic therapy consists of utilizing an IPL source connected to a device that lifts the skin by vacuum suction and brings it very close to the source of light. As a result, much less power is necessary due to the proximity of the target (e.g. hair root) to the light source. In addition, the vacuum suction eliminates unwanted light-absorbing agents that may compete with the intended target.
