It is an intense pulsed light device that makes use of photopneumatic technique to physically bring the hair follicle closer to the skin surface, thus enhancing the melanin target and reducing the hemoglobin target (i.e. red blood cells) for increased effectiveness. Given the improved absorption of light by the target, lower energies are able to be used, resulting in much less patient discomfort. These treatments are virtually painless.
In addition, the lower energy levels decrease the risk of potential side effects such as scarring and discoloration that are more common with traditional laser systems.
Finally, AestheraŽ comes with multiple tip sizes that can be tailored to the specific treatment site (e.g. a large tip for the chest, back, or leg; a small tip for the upper lip), so that treatments are carried out most expediently and with much more precision.
