Between 1950 and 2007, the melanoma rate rose 17 fold for men  (33.5 per 100,000) and 9 fold for women (25.3 per 100,000). In 2014, one person in 50 will be diagnosed with Malignant Melanoma.

Acne scars and wrinkles treatment with Artefill®

Acne scars and wrinkles treatment with Artefill® - Chicago Dermatologist ArticleAcne scars and wrinkles treatment with Artefill® - Chicago Dermatology ArticleArtefill® is the only FDA-approved permanent cosmetic injectable for treatment of nasolabial folds. Achieve PERMANENT correction of these indicators of aging during a safe and convenient office visit.

Artefill® is composed of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres suspended in purified bovine collagen. PMMA has been safely used for 6 decades in implantable medical devices. Because of potential allergy to the bovine collagen component, a small skin test is required 4 weeks prior to treatment. If the skin test is negative, treatment may proceed. Many patients do require a second treatment for optimal correction a few weeks after the first, but the results are then permanent!

Excess Hair Treatment

Excess Hair Treatment - Chicago Dermatologist ArticleThe Apogee Alexandrite 5500 is one of the most reliable lasers to combat unwanted dark hairs and dark spots on the skin, such as freckles, sunspots, melasma or age spots.
The Alex laser works by emitting powerful laser energy into the targeted tissue ( pigmented lesion or hair follicle) that causes subsequent lightening to the lesions and destruction of the follicle without damaging the neighboring tissue.
The Alex laser works best in lighter skin patients, but is safe in darker skin types as well. Pigmented lesions may also require multiple treatments depending on how dark they are. The lesions will appear lighter after each treatment and may appear smaller in size.read more
