Alexandrite treatment for unwanted hair and spots
The Apogee Alexandrite 5500 is one of the most reliable lasers to combat unwanted dark hairs and dark spots on the skin, such as freckles, sunspots, melasma or age spots. The Alexandrite (Alex) laser uses a 755 nm wavelength, which is absorbed highly by melanin in the skin and hair follicles. The Alex laser works by emitting powerful laser energy into the targeted tissue ( pigmented lesion or hair follicle) that causes subsequent lightening to the lesions and destruction of the follicle without damaging the neighboring tissue.
For laser hair reduction 4-8 treatments may be necessary as the laser is only able to destroy hair follicles that are in the active growth phase. Because, hairs exist in three cycles (active growing or anagen; transitional or catagen; resting or telogen), several treatments are needed to adequently catch different hairs in the active cycle. After each treatment you will notice finer, lighter hairs with slower re-growth to each area treated.read more
Cellulite treatment with Thermage
Thermage can reduce the lumpiness of cellulite. Thus, in addition to reducing the diameter and circumference of the thighs and buttocks, Thermage tightens the skin fairly uniformly, including the areas where the fat is herniating. One treatment usually suffices. Cellulite is a rather common condition of middle age, mostly in women. The buttocks and thighs are primarily affected. There are lumps alternating with dells caused by uneven accumulation and herniation of fat lobules, separated by fibrous bands. To find out more about cellulite, please visit our cellulite page. Sometimes the improvement is immediately noticeable but often it takes up to 6 months to see the optimum benefit. With the new protocol, 95% of patients are pleased with the results. To discuss your Thermage® treatment in Chicago with a Board Certified Dermatologist please make an appointment today.

Remove Unwanted Fat with CoolSculpting by Zeltiq
CoolSculpting by Zeltiq is a device that removes unwanted body fat nonsurgically, noninvasively, by using low temperature in localized areas ("Cryolipolysis") It is safe and effective It is FDA approved. It is minimally painful, although it leaves some temporary numbness. It works by lowering the temperature of the fat cells and the overlying skin, but carefully avoiding frostbite (the cooling necessary to damage the fat cells is much less than that which causes frostbite) Since fat cells are more sensitive to cooling than skin cells, this procedure damages the fat cells but leaves the skin cells intact.
